Final Scraps… January 2009

Can it really be true 2009?! It seems like yesterday everyone was worried about Y2K (for you youngsters that means the year 2000…teehee) This will be our 4th year in the warehouse and boy has it changed around here. And I know it’s for the better!

Any resolutions outside the norm? I always choose to try and lose weight, to get more organized, or to read more books…But for a change I am completing a ALL ABOUT ME album for 2009. Join me for this monthly class completing a two-page layout for each month with a specific theme. BasicGrey has put these KITS together and I am excited to announce we got picked to be the northwest’s retailer to offer these classes. We only have space for 11 participants so sign up today.

Inventory is right around the corner. Please bear with us through the hectic 14 days and a BIG THANK YOU to the customers who have volunteered to help us through the process. YOU ROCK!

Don’t forget our FREE FRENZY NIGHTS every Saturday from Noon—Midnight you can bring all your own stuff and work in our classroom, while enjoying the friendships of other ladies, laughter, and the sense of accomplishment completing those pages without the distractions from home. Our knowledgeable staff can also give advice and assist you in choosing papers, and embellishments to finish your layout. Hope to see you soon!

May the spirit of Christmas be with you today, tomorrow, and always. I hold your loyalty and friendship close to my heart. Please know that the dollars you spend at All About Memories stay here in the Flathead Valley. Darin and I are proud to employ 8 hard working and dedicated gals that love this craft as much as I do…and we are glad to have them!

Thank you for a wonderful 2008 and here’s to brighter 2009!

Happy Scrappin’

Final Scraps…December 2001

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas…with all the decorations up right after Halloween!? Not me. I always wait until Thanksgiving but I have to admit I listen to Christmas music all year round. Don’t judge me…I know some of you do it too! (tee hee)

I had decided to make all my gifts this year for the people in my life. With that being said it seems that the days are rolling by faster and faster with not enough hours to  accomplish the daily tasks. So I may be last minute shopping, but I’m not going to feel guilty.

It’s just that a handmade item is always more personal than something store bought and the receiver seems ‘touched’ so much more by the gesture.

So what better opportunity do you have then to hand make some gifts this year? During the month of December we are not charging any class fees as our gift back to you—and to help you get those handmade gifts finished in time for the holidays. We are also going to be open on Sundays during the month for extra CROP TIME or your shopping convenience.

I hope to see you at our annual Holiday Open House! Make some FREE cards and gift tags while enjoying our holiday music and refreshments. Oh did I mention our SALE?!

Thank you again for your continued support and loyalty to your LOCAL SCRAPBOOK STORE! With you buying locally it allows us to continue to provide this amazing selection! And your friendship does mean a lot to me!

I hope you are happy and well this Holiday Season and that you find peace with any challenges that face you.

Merry Christmas and Happy Scrappin’

Final Scraps…November 2008

I love Fall. The changing colors on the trees and the cool crisp air. I love going to the Sweet Pickin’s pumpkin patch with the kids and taking a TON of photos. The colors are awesome and the kids smile because they are having fun and it’s not a posed shot.

Fall inspires me for change…to organize, paint, or to change it up. Well that’s just what we are doing. We painted the floor in the classroom a chocolate brown…and I love it! We moved the wall to reduce the current classroom to accommodate for all the NEW products we want to put out on the floor (not literally). We are currently working on a NEW floor plan to help the flow of the store. Any input from you, our valued customers would be appreciated!

I have been nipping at the contractor’s heels about the addition and believe me I won’t stop until he gets that concrete down and the building in place….(tee hee)

For the month of DECEMBER we will be open 7 days a week… Sunday 1—5 pm!

If you want to make your Christmas gifts this year, you should check out our calendar. It is full of gift making ideas and remember the handmade gifts are more personal than buying a gift.

What are you thankful for? I love this photo of my four children…I am so grateful for them and the JOY they bring to my life. My  oldest daughter, Tori is now working in the store so be sure to introduce yourself when you see her…you will recognize her as the gorgeous red head! I am grateful that she wants to spend time here at the store, and helping where she can…I am also thankful for your continued support…it does mean a lot to me!

Final Scraps…September 2008

I really had a great summer spending time with my family on the water, a couple of weddings, family reunion, and a small trip with the kids to Silverwood. Can summer really be over? It just means it’s time to focus on what I like most about fall…scrapbooking.

Join us this month for our annual fundraiser for breast cancer, SCRAPpink. What a great cause and I know each of you have been affected by this disease one way or another. If you can’t participate by attending the event, please stop by for an ALL YOU CAN EAT lunch just $5! Or buy raffle tickets —an arm’s length for $5. All proceeds raised will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. If you would like to donate an item please give us a call or email me the details.

I want to do a SHOUT OUT to my sister, Kim Waltz for the countless hours she has put in to help get our computers working properly. She has also put in many NIGHTS uploading pictures to be added to our web site. I love you sis, and I am truly grateful for your time and friendship! We did get to take a break and enjoy some time on the water together!

I hope to see you all soon at the store and look forward to catching up with what has been going on in your lives…

Final Scraps…July 2008

Every summer when I was a child, my siblings and I would have these amazing water fights on HOT days. Every bucket, bowl, and garbage can that would hold water was used. Mom’s only rule was “NO WATER IN THE HOUSE!” My mother and father would sit on the deck and watch, never taking sides, but laughing at the dunkings, the slips, and the facial hose squirts.

Glimpses of my childhood help me to remember who I am and where I came from. With the hope that these memories are not only shared with my children, but help in creating my own with them. Remember what it was like…can you hear the laughter?

Smile…and for just a day forget your worries, the HIGH gas prices, and your job and focus on ‘the good life’

Independence Day

I love the 4th of July so much that I even tried to have my son Jack on the 4th, but no luck! I thought, what could be better than having everyone in town doing fireworks, having BAR-B-QUES all in honor of his birthday.

I am proud to be an American and I am proud to say that my husband served 10 years in the Air Force during Desert Storm. My brother, Micah (AIR FORCE) and brother-in-law Jeremy (ARMY) currently are serving during Iraqi Freedom.

Be grateful…I know I am, always and forever!

I am excited about SUMMER being here to soak up the sun, go boating with my family, and my best friend is getting married in July. So a very busy summer however, I do plan on trying to scrapbook during the week to make up for my busy weekends.

Please join me at the Open Crops throughout the month of June. Sunday – Tuesdays are FREE and bring a lunch and stay until closing. If you set a goal of one day a month month I guarantee you won’t have that guilty feeling when next Fall rolls around.

On another note…

This month is my anniversary and Darin and I hope to get away (no kids) for a weekend in Spokane. If you happen to see him in the store be sure to ‘thank him’ for allowing me to dedicate so much time to this store and to continue offering such a large inventory. He definitely has made HUGE sacrifices for me to chase my dream. We love you Darin!

Final Scraps…May 2008

Is it springtime yet? I would love to hear the birds chirp, see the tulips bloom, and feel the sunshine. Especially on the evenings that I coach fast pitch softball.

Please join us this month for our celebration of National Scrapbook Day…a day full of fun and friendship.

Mother’s Day is May 11th this year and is always a day that I look forward to. It is the ONE day that I get breakfast in bed from the kids, a day of hugs and cuddling without the normal kid fighting, and generally a ‘love note’ from my husband.

I generally camp every year for Memorial Day weekend. Mainly to hide from everyone because it means one more birthday for me (something I always looked forward to when I was younger, but now that I’m in my thirties…they’re not so great!) But I do love to get away from it all and relax with no phones or stress to think about.

We always come home on Memorial Day, soaking wet from all the rain and sometimes snow. I always make it a point to stop by the cemetery and put flowers on my sister’s grave, and friends I have lost along the way. Then we stop by the veteran’s cemetery and place little flags on grave markers. My husband, Darin served in the Air Force for 10 years and I currently have a brother, Micah and a brother-in-law, Jeremy serving in Iraq.

I am truly grateful for their sacrifice and the sacrifice of many before them that have fought to defend my freedom, this country’s freedom, and protect us from additional terrorism. I always take this holiday to reflect on my many blessings and pray for all soldiers safe return.

This is my brother, Micah who became a NEW dad in September 2007 and was deployed to Iraq in January 2008. He is proud to be a soldier and looks forward to rejoining his family in July 2008. I LOVE you and will pray for your safe return!

Please bring in your layouts and SHARE your stories of soldiers, or loved ones you wish to remember on Memorial Day and we will proudly display them in the store for the month of May.

Final Scraps…April 2008

I have been an avid scrapbooker for about 14 years now…not to mention all the cutting and pasting I did in school for my notebooks, locker, and wall in my bedroom.

To look back at where I started and where I have come is an amazing journey. To be honest I really don’t like sharing those beginning books with anyone except my family. I don’t know why exactly but I do know I like looking back and remembering the work of art I created without much to choose from.

I look at this store we have created with all the variety and selection of the best  collections on the market, and wonder how I survived prior to 2003 without it.

I hope that you find it to be the place to find exactly what you need! Thank you for your continued support of All About Memories, the staff, and me because without you we couldn’t  do it.

I would also like to express a special thanks to the staff members that have ‘stepped up’ to support me in the management side of things… Stephanie, wow I have been truly blessed by your friendship, loyalty and support! Kara, wow…the creativity that flow from you…You inspire me!

Definitely kindred spirits. Thank you girls, I love you! Some of the stuff that I see Tim Holtz produce has inspired me to my core…be watching for these classes to be added late summer.

Final Scraps…March 2008

We had an AWESOME time at the CHA show in Anaheim, CA and saw a TON of new products releasing on the market.

Not to mention purchased a TON of those items. These will start to arrive this next week and be sure to stop in to see the newest and BEST on the market.

I am grateful to Chrissy Doolen and Stacy Bubb for their continued support of AAM…Please join them on March 8th for our SCRAPBOOK DAY with the PROS and show them how much we appreciate them traveling to our little corner of Montana.

As you may have noticed, we have started to add some REAL LIFE layouts to our walls. If you would like to display your work, drop off a layout or two, and we will proudly display them on the wall.

For every layout submitted, your name will go into our giveaway bucket. Each month we will draw a name from the bucket to win a $25 gift certificate. No limit to the number of layouts submitted.

Drop off your layouts by the 30th of the month. Drawing will be held on the 30th of the following month. Thank you for participating and I look forward to getting to know you on a more personal level.

Thank you for your continued support, we are heading into our third year in this location and we couldn’t do it without our loyal customers.

Thank you for your referrals and telling your friends and families about us…you’re the BEST!

Final Scraps…February 2008

Wow inventory is finally over and we appreciate your patience with us over the mess and days that we were closed. It is NOT the most fun job, however it has to get done and with the help of my awesome staff, and a few of our loyal and dedicated customers we got the count done in record time.

Hugs and Kisses to Joanna Chouiard, Patty Archibald, Cassandra Schmidt, and Kelly Hawkinson for donating countless hours in exchange for gift certificate dollars.

We are gearing up for the CHA trade show in Anaheim, CA and trying to make room for the new lines we want to carry, so be sure to take advantage of the SALES listed on the calendar.

We have been receiving notices from almost all our vendors stating that due to rising costs of labor from China, transportation prices, and cost of steel we will see a rise in our purchases.

I wish I could say that it wouldn’t be passed on, but in order to keep our store viable we will have some increases as well. My goal is to carry less of what you are finding at Walmart and Target and more of the specialty items. We just CAN NOT compete with those big dogs!

Thank you for your continued support, we are heading into our third year in this location and we couldn’t do it without our loyal customers. Thank you for your referrals and telling your friends and families about us…you’re the BEST!
